As summer does its best to approach at a painfully slow pace, the Naugatuck River Valley has come back to life from its winter slumber. The frozen entrails of the Valley have finally defrosted, turned to mud, and now show promise of great outdoor summer fun! While you're out fishing, wading, or floating around the Naugie, be sure to ride up Route 42 to its junction with Route 10 in Cheshire, where you can find Sweet Claude's Ice Cream!
Family owned and operated, Sweet Claude's has been catering to Cheshire locals for over 28 seasons! It is amazing to me that they still operate on a CASH ONLY system, but it seems to work. Don't panic though- there is an ATM on site for those who only carry plastic, and it's for those users the Valley may help you relax and kick back this summer!
Be sure to follow Sweet Claude's on facebook to keep up-to-date on their Flavor of the Week. Stop by and take your picture by the old tree they had carved into Ice Cream Cones, and chill out on their country-style porch with your milkshake, sundae or store-made waffle cone!
Personally, I feel Sweet Claude's is the best ice cream stop in the Valley AND in the Cheshire/Hamden area. Beats Wentworth's EVERY TIME. No competition.
