Hi Nutmeggers.

Welcome to my social blog. We post local Connecticut food, booze, and entertainment reviews. All entries are first hand experience, accompanied with iPhone-quality pictures aplenty.

Gathered here are upcoming events, fun activities and food/beverage suggestions for a night out in Connecticut. Click the links embedded throughout the site to explore further and support local businesses, artists, brewers, and nutmeggers.

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Please excuse our excessive socialization. <3

15: College Street, New Haven

Reviving Live Music New Haven: College Street Music Hall

So we've all heard the story. Whether you're a Connecticut Native and your dad told you the story about how he was stuck working when a buddy called SWEARING the Rolling Stones were rocking down at Toad's Place in New Haven. Or maybe you're a transport, so you just heard a friend tell you about his Dad missing out on the Rolling Stones.

Either way. We know. We get it. Toad's Place, and the New Haven Music Scene, use to ROCK.

But now... we find ourselves hopping trains, planes and automobiles to get to New York, Hartford or Boston- just to catch an act we like. If we're really lucky, a decent band might roll through one of our terribly inconvenient Casinos, stuck out in the middle of no where. This is our fate in Connecticut. To travel, or be deprived of any musical artistry.

Well, now- that terrible fate is being altered by the rock Gods pulling strings down at College Street Music Hall.

In case you've been under a rock the last two years- let me tell you- the puppeteers with Manic Presents have been pulling strings, and rabbits out of hats. These musical rabbits have come in the forms of Michelle Branch, Less than Jake, Pixies, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Foster the People, Kacey Musgraves, Third Eye Blind, Iron and Wine, Regina Spektor, The Decemberists The Beach Boys-- and tonight on Wednesday 8/8/18 Franz Ferdinand returns AGAIN to rock out in New Haven.

So, these aren't exactly arena selling bands, no, BUT -what College Street is bringing to us is more valuable-- actual artists!

I've been blessed to stand down in the pit for Michelle Branch. My lifelong dreams coming true as she riffed and fussed over her guitar during her warm up. I took a stroll down Nostalgia lane as I moshed with some buddies to Third Eye Blind, "Graduate". I was possibly the youngest person standing for the Beach Boys rock fest in November 2016, but it was a great show- and the acoustics were much MUCH better than the outdoor venues I'd caught them at previously.

If music isn't your jam ( ;-P ) - College Street has offered up DOZENS of amazing comedy shows. Including, but not limited to, John Mulaney, Demetri Martin, Ilana Glazer, Mike Birbiglia, Tiffany Haddish,  Tig Nataro, Gad Elmaleh, and upcoming this fall- Anthony Jeselnik(9/21/18) and Craig Ferguson(12/5/18). My own claim to fame is "heckling" John Mulaney twice, and having both of my questions answered. That means we're basically best friends now, right?

Whether it's an upcoming concert or a comedic adventure, if you haven't yet rocked out in College Street Music Hall- you're missing out! Manic Presents and their other production partners are working hard around the clock to resuscitate the music scene in New Haven. We thank them for their service- and look forward to visiting their venue more often!

Like tonight... for Franz Ferdinand. See y'all there!
